GENERAL CAMPER
INFORMATION
We are very excited about our relationship with
the Girl Scouts of St. Croix Valley and their wonderful camp, Rolling Ridges! Pictures of camp, and a site map can be found
on our Camp Venue Information page also linked at the left.
All Campers will receive a pre-arrival
packet of information (well in advance of our start date) in the mail regarding registration confirmation,
Check-in instructions, Nursery Care information, a Suggested Supply list (as
well as what not to bring), Daily schedule info, Closing Ceremony info,
Parental volunteer assignments, and contact information. You may contact us
from the Contact Page as well for any
other questions or concerns you may
have about the information.
Camp planning with respect to
specific recreational activities can be found on our Camp Activities Page.
Check your pre-arrival
information and the Camp Activities Page for more info..... and get ready to
have some FUN!
The Eileen Bigelow Center
(multi-purpose center) will be
the hub of all adult activity during camp week. It is an air-conditioned
lodge with beautiful views from the patio and deck. The upper level is
the dining hall and is our area for Adult workshops and morning Cho-Whey. On the lower level, you will be able to enjoy the
market, bookstore, snack table and Raffle.
For the safety of our campers, a Security Policy has been established at Camp
Chosôn. Our current policy is as follows:
- All adults on the campgrounds will be
required to wear a nametag at all times.
- Each registered adult volunteer, counselor,
and teacher will have a
certified background check paid for and performed by the Board of Directors prior to camp
(see Registration Materials).
- Each registered volunteer will receive
their nametag in the registration information packet available during
check-in. Only registered volunteers actively working with
campers will be allowed in the designated "Camper" areas.
- Nametags for "visitors" will be
available from the market in the lower level of the Eileen Bigelow center.
Any adult not registered as a volunteer will be considered a
"visitor" and will need to sign-in in the market
to obtain a nametag. Lunch tickets will be available there for
purchase as well.
- Only designated volunteers will have open
access to the campgrounds. All volunteers not assigned to actively work
with campers will be asked to remain in
the areas designated as "Visitor Areas".
Should need arise to contact your child while they are at camp, please
find a Board Member and they will put you in contact with the right individual.
THE BASICS
CHO-WHEY (a family gathering):
Each day of camp starts with Cho-Whey at 8:45AM. Various announcements,
presentations, songs and pertinent daily information are a normal part of Cho-Whey.
This gathering will take place every morning rain or shine, Monday through Friday,
in the comforts of our new spacious dining hall.
DAY CAMP (GRADES K-6): Monday Thru
Friday, Camp Week
Day Campers have a normal daily schedule from 9:00AM to 4:00PM; however, campers are to
show up early the first day at the registration table in the Dining Hall where
informational packets, materials and group assignments will be
distributed. In general, campers are assigned to groups dependent on which grade they are entering
in the Fall of the same year as camp. The registration desk opens at 8:30AM on Monday,
Camp Week.
There is an overnight option to stay for one night, Thursday night, only for those children
entering sixth grade in the Fall. These children attend the regular Day Camp, but
stay overnight on Thursday of camp week with Adult chaperones to
"bridge" their camp experience to the following year when they will
become Resident Campers. Finally on the last day of
camp, Friday, regular camp ends shortly after lunch to allow for our
traditional children's
program that afternoon to finish the week. More details regarding
this program will be
announced at camp.
RESIDENT CAMP (GRADES 7-11): Sunday Thru Friday,
Camp Week
Resident Campers are to meet at 4:00PM on Sunday in the Dining
Hall
to check-in for camp and receive group assignments for the week.
All campers are encouraged to review the camp
materials mailed to them prior to camp week in order to prepare appropriately
for their cultural experience and social immersion. Suggested equipment and appropriate clothing are a must to get
the most out of your camp experience.
